Sound of Music Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to Vienna.

Day 2 - Arrive Vienna (3 nights) You*re met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Later meet your *Tour Director and fellow travelers for a Welcome Dinner with wine. (Welcome Dinner)Hotel: Hilton Danube (3 nights)

Day 3 - Vienna sightseeing & at leisure. Our morning sightseeing tour shows us the Imperial Boulevards, *Hofburg Palace and the Opera House. Tonight why not enjoy a Viennese Waltz Concert? (Buffet Breakfast)

Day 4 - Vienna at leisure.Perhaps visit Schonbrunn Palace, window shop on the Kartnerstrasse or just feast on *Viennese pastries! (Buffet Breakfast)

Day 5 - Vienna - Salzburg (2 nights). We follow the Danube Valley, passing Melk Abbey, and stop at **Durnstein Castle where Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned and later rescued by his faithful **servant, Blondel. Then to Mondsee where we see the Wedding church from *The Sound of Music* and *continue onto Salzburg for two nights. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner) Hotel: Austria Trend Europa (2 nights)

Day 6 - Salzburg sightseeing & at leisure. Our local guide shows us the Cathedral, the Horse Fountain and *many of the sites from *The Sound of Music*. Later free time to relax in a cozy coffee shop.(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

Day 7 - Salzburg - Innsbruck. Our orientation tour of Innsbruck shows us the Golden Roof, the Hofburg Palace, the Wilten Basilica and Olympic ski jump. Later explore the quaint cobbled streets of the old town. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner) Hotel: Grauer B*r

Day 8 - Innsbruck - Munich (2 nights) We drive into German Bavaria and take a horse and carriage ride to Mad King Ludwig*s Neuschwanstein Castle for a guided visit of the extravagant apartments. Next to Oberammergau, renowned for its Passion play which will be performed again in 2010, and onto Munich and our hotel where we have dinner tonight.*(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner) Hotel: Hilton City (2 nights)

Day 9 - Munich orientation & at leisure. Morning orientation shows us the famous glockenspiel at the Town *Hall, the Hofbrauhaus and the Olympic Stadium. Then free time to explore this vibrant city. Tonight *why not celebrate with your traveling companions in the beer halls for which Munich is famous? (Buffet Breakfast)

Day 10 - Depart Munich. Time to bid farewell as we transfer to the airport for your return flight home. (Buffet Breakfast)

Day 1 - Depart USA Overnight flight to Athens.

Day 2 - Arrive Athens (2 nights) Tonight, enjoy a welcome drink with our Tour Director. Hotel: Divani Palace Acropolis (2 nights)

Day 3 - Athens sightseeing & at leisure. Today's morning sightseeing tour includes a walking tour of the Acropolis and the Parthenon. We'll also see the Agora, Acropolis Museum, Royal Palace, the Temple of Zeus, Hadrian's Arch, and the stadium built for the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 before free time. (Buffet Breakfast)

Day 4 - Athens Nauplia. We drive to the bridge across the Corinth Canal. Then we visit the remains of the ancient city of Corinth, en route to Mycenae, to see the Beehive Tombs, the Treasury of Atreus, Lion Gate and remains of Agamem*non's Royal Palace. On to the Sanctuary of Aesculapius, God of Medicine, to visit the amphitheatre. Finally, we arrive in Nauplia. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner) Hotel: Amalia

Day 5 - Nauplia Olympia. Today we drive through the Mountains of Arcadia to Olympia, where the first Olympic Games were held in 776 B.C. Next we stroll around the ancient Olympic Stadium and the Temples of Zeus and Hera on our visit of this Archaeological site. Tonight we dine at our hotel. Day 6 - Olympia Delphi, This morning we head to Patras for a ferry across the Gulf of Corinth to mainland Greece. Then on to Delphi on the slopes of mighty Mount Parnassus, home of the Oracle. We walk the Sacred Way to the Sanctuary of Apollo and visit this ancient Archaeological site.(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner) Hotel: Delphi Palace

Day 7 - Delphi Kalambaka. Today's drive takes us over the Pourmaraki Pass to Lamia, and on via Trikala to Kalambaka. Then, we take a trip to the incredible monasteries of Meteora, perched on giant rocks above the town. We will visit two of these to admire the beautiful Byzantine frescoes and the views. Day 8 - Kalambaka Athens. This morning we enjoy a scenic drive along the coast to Thermopylae, site of the famous battle between the Spartans and Persians. We return to Athens for our final night in this fascinating city. (Buffet Breakfast) **Hotel: Divani Palace Acropolis

Day 9 - Embark Piraeus Mykonos. After completing your Best of Greece tour, you are transferred to Piraeus. Here we board our ship and cruise to Mykonos. Here we enjoy a few hours in the playground of the rich and famous before we set sail.(Buffet Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 10 - Rhodes. Morning arrival at beautiful Rhodes. There's plenty of time to explore the Old Town and visit Lindos. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 11 - Patmos Kusadasi. An early morning arrival at Patmos, why not visit the Fortress-Monastery. Later, we cruise to Turkish Kusadasi where a visit to the incredible ruins of Ephesus is a must! (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 12 - Disembarkation Athens. We transfer by coach to our hotel, with time to relax or maybe do some shopping. (Breakfast) *Hotel: Divani Palace Acropolis
